In plain English

  • These terms are the agreement between you and OrbisLabs Ltd for using OwóBook.
  • OwóBook is for adults (18 and over) using it for a business.
  • Your shop's data is yours. You're responsible for your customers' details, your prices and your taxes.
  • OwóBook is not a bank. Your customers pay you directly and we never hold your money.
  • The free version has ads. Premium is a subscription through Apple or Google that renews until you cancel it in your store settings.
  • You can stop using OwóBook and delete your account at any time.

1. Who we are

OwóBook is an app for shop owners, made by OrbisLabs Ltd ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the app you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use OwóBook.

2. Who can use OwóBook

  • You must be 18 or older.
  • You must use OwóBook for a business, such as a shop, stall, service or trade. It isn't meant for personal use.
  • If you use it for a company, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms on its behalf.

3. Your account

  • Sign in with an email and password, your Google account or Sign in with Apple. Give accurate details and keep them up to date.
  • Keep your password and your phone safe. You're responsible for what happens in your account.
  • Tell us straight away at Ibn.abdulwahabu@gmail.com if you think someone else has used your account.

4. Your shop, your customers, your prices

Your data is yours. You keep ownership of everything you put into OwóBook: your shop details, items, stock, customers and invoices.

  • Customer details: you are responsible for the customer information you enter, for having the right to record it, and for sending customers receipts and reminders they'd expect. Only record what you need.
  • Prices and taxes: you set your own prices, discounts and tax rates, and you're responsible for charging, recording and paying the right taxes where you trade. OwóBook calculates what you enter; it doesn't give tax or accounting advice.
  • Your invoices: check them before you send. You're responsible for what your invoices and receipts say.

5. We are not a bank

OwóBook is a record-keeping tool. It is not a bank, payment processor or money transmitter, and it never holds, moves or settles funds. Your customers pay you directly, into the account you show on your invoices. Any payment, refund or dispute is between you and your customer.

6. Staff accounts

  • With Premium, you can invite staff and give each person a role: Seller, Stock keeper, Accountant or Manager.
  • As the owner, you are responsible for who you invite, the roles you give them, and removing access when someone leaves.
  • What staff do in your shop counts as done by your shop.

7. Free and Premium

Free. The core of OwóBook is free to use and shows ads.

Premium adds features such as no ads, Premium invoice designs, Bluetooth receipt printing, stock tracking, suppliers and staff accounts. The price is shown in the app before you buy and can vary by country.

  • Billing: Premium is billed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) to the account you buy it with, under their terms.
  • Auto-renewal: it renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Free trials: if a plan offers a free trial or introductory offer, any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
  • Cancelling: cancel in your store settings: App Store subscriptions or Google Play subscriptions. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel it. You keep Premium until the end of the period you paid for.
  • Refunds: handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies. We can't issue refunds for store purchases ourselves.
  • It belongs to the shop: Premium is tied to the shop, not one person, and covers the staff in that shop.
  • Changes: we may change Premium features or prices. Price changes follow Apple's and Google's rules, including telling you in advance.

8. Acceptable use

Please don't:

  • use OwóBook for anything illegal, or to record sales of illegal goods;
  • create false invoices or receipts to mislead anyone;
  • use receipts or reminders to spam or harass people;
  • enter people's details you have no right to hold;
  • try to break, overload, copy or reverse-engineer the app, or reach data that isn't yours.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.

9. Intellectual property

OwóBook, its design, name, logo and software belong to OrbisLabs Ltd. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for your business under these terms.

You give us permission to store, process and display your data only as needed to run OwóBook for you. If you send us feedback, we may use it without owing you anything.

10. App Store terms

If you downloaded OwóBook from Apple's App Store, these extra terms apply:

  • These terms are between you and OrbisLabs Ltd, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content.
  • Your licence is to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by the App Store's Usage Rules.
  • Apple has no duty to provide maintenance or support for the app.
  • If the app fails to meet any warranty that applies, you can tell Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. Apple has no other warranty obligation.
  • Apple isn't responsible for any claims about the app, such as product liability, failing to meet legal requirements, or consumer protection claims. We handle those.
  • If someone claims the app infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, will investigate and deal with it.
  • You confirm you're not in a country under a US government embargo or on a US list of prohibited parties.
  • When you use the app, you must also follow any third-party terms that apply, such as your mobile carrier's data plan terms.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries can enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

If you downloaded OwóBook from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply.

11. Service availability

We work to keep OwóBook running, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. It relies on services such as Google Firebase, Apple and Google, and may be paused for maintenance. The app keeps a copy of your data on your phone so you can keep working during short outages. We may change, add or remove features.

12. Disclaimers

OwóBook is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond those in these terms, including that the app will suit a particular purpose. OwóBook helps you keep records; it doesn't guarantee that customers will pay you.

13. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows:

  • we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost sales, or debts your customers don't pay;
  • we are not liable for losses caused by things outside our reasonable control, or by apps and services you choose to share with;
  • our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for Premium in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or takes away rights you have under consumer law where you live.

14. Ending and deleting your account

  • You can stop using OwóBook at any time and delete your account in the app (Shop → Delete account). See how to delete your account.
  • We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or if the law requires. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you first and give you time to export your records.
  • Deleting your account doesn't cancel Premium; cancel it in your store settings first.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep using OwóBook after that, the new terms apply.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Nigeria have jurisdiction over any dispute.

If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in.
